Photo of the Week - March 21, 2024

Spring is finally here (mostly). There are many things to do at this time of the year like walking, gardening, and biking like these kids are in this photo.

On the front page of the April 10, 1969 issue of The Romeo Observer, photographer Tom Bleich took pictures of kids enjoying various outdoor activities due to the recent warm weather at the time. This was one of the photographs taken. It shows Maureen Wecker riding her tricycle with Nancy Kerr as her passenger as they zoom "along the blacktop on West Newberry."

It looks like they are having a blast. Let's hope that Nancy didn't fall off. For those who are curious where they are on West Newberry Street, they are riding past the area now known as the Village Park towards Rawles. The tall building in the very back towards the left is the Masonic Temple.

I'm sure the kids of today will bike just like Maureen and Nancy did once the weather gets warmer here.
