Happy Leap Day, everybody! Also, Happy Birthday to those who were born on February 29!
The Romeo Observer recognized many birthdays during its publication, including those that fell on Leap Day like that of a little boy named Billy Fetter.
On the front page of the February 28, 1952 issue, the newspaper displayed this photograph of four-year-old Billy watching anxiously as his older sister Linda Jean makes a cake for his first official birthday. Linda Jean was "a veteran of ten birthdays."
Father James Fetter mentioned that aunts, uncles, and grandparents from as far away as Ohio are coming to celebrate. This makes sense. Leap Day comes around every four years, which made Billy's birthday all the more special.
As for the cake, the article had no doubt of Linda Jean's ability to make one because "her experience in the culinary arts as a former Brownie Scout and 4-H'er assures a pretty good cake."
Let's hope that cake was delicious and that Billy had a wonderful birthday.
As for today, Happy 19th Birthday, Billy!
