Every now and then, I like to share a photo that is in a smaller collection at the Romeo Community Archives. While this one officially comes from The Romeo Observer, it also shows up in our Channel 6 Collection.
In it, WBRW TV, Channel 6 volunteer Bobbie Kegler answers the telephone in the foyer of the Tri-Community Cable Studio while sitting by a desk that proudly displays the Channel 6 logo. It was taken by Karen Hamilton in 1994. In that same year, that studio relocated to a new facility.
Assistant News Editor Michele Tanguay recounted the move in the September 28, 1994 issue of The Romeo Observer. The new 2,500-square-foot facility was adjacent to the Community Center on Morton Street. According to Tanguay, it featured "a 900-square-foot studio, offices, two edit suites, a sound room and a conference room."
Prior to that, WBRW spent two years in a "temporary location in the stage area of the Community Center."
Even though not every thing was unpacked nor all the furniture was delivered by the time the article was published, employees and volunteers were allowed to occupy the building, including Kegler herself.
WBRW stayed in that location until around 2010.
