"The Romeo Observer" Digitization Project
Hello Everybody!
We have some wonderful news! We're back to digitizing "The Romeo Observer!"
This newspaper ran from 1866 to 2015, and the collection also contains earlier iterations like the "Romeo Investigator" (1851) and the "Romeo Argus" (1857-1864). Due to Covid, we had to put the project on the back burner, yet we're excited to start it up again!
Our intern Jen Derless is working hard scanning every page from every issue as well as ensuring that it's text readable. The latter is highly important since this will allow researchers to search a page by using a key word or phrase!
Every newspaper in "The Romeo Observer" will be digitized by 2023, but they won't be available to the public right away. We plan to keep them in the Archives for one year, so if you want to see them during that time, you can call (586) 690-4890 or email rca@romeodistrictlibrary to schedule an appointment.
