Horsepower! Photo of the Week June 18, 2019

Pictured above is a gorgeous team of horses owned by John Marsh from Oxford, pulling in the heavyweight class.  All that horsepower kicked up a cloud, that unfortunately for John, has resulted in a face full of dirt. The pulling contest was held in September of 1948, in Romeo, and unfortunately, we do not know the results or how well the team performed.

Do you have any information about John and his team, or do you know what other well known Romeo event horse pulling contests were once a part of? Send an email to rca@romeodistrictlibrary.org or leave a comment if you do.

School's Out! Photo of the Week - June 11, 2019

These Romeo High School students are getting ready to head out for their senior class trip. Pictured left to right are Pat Perkins, Bill Zurgable, Ron Mosher, and Bob Sulkowki. It seems a fitting photo for this week as June 12th is the last day for all Romeo Community Schools. Goodbye school days and hello summer!

Do you know what year this photo was taken? Send an email to rca@romeodistrictlibrary.org or leave a comment if you do.

RCA Photo of the Week - June 4, 2019

The Washington Lion in the photograph is demonstrating that there is more than one way to cook a chicken! Preparing food for the crowds during the Washington Historical Society's Art & Craft Show and Antique Flea Market, the unnamed gentleman donned a gas mask to escape the smoke. The event was photographed for the June 5, 1985 edition of The Romeo Observer.

Do you know who the masked man is? Send us an email at rca@romeodistrictlibrary.org, or leave a comment if you can identify him.
