RCA Photo of the Week - It's Football Season!

Here are photos of the Romeo High School football team getting in shape and practicing for their season opener in 1965.

"When you hear the groans from the exercises and grunts from contact on the gridiron you know the fall season is here. Above, the Romeo varsity team goes through exercises to loosen up for the encounter Friday night in the opening game at Richmond. Just listen to those groans! Below, the backs practice a handoff for a slice through the line in order to sharpen up their running attack. If there weren't any grunts they'd better sharpen their attack some more!"

Did they win?

"The Romeo Bulldogs got their season off with a bang as Bob Rowley returned the opening kickoff of the season 72 yards for a touchdown and the start of a 20-0 romp over the Richmond Blue Devils. Doug Boggs kicked the extra point...Romeo piled up over 160 yards rushing. 16 first downs, and only three penalties."
